Statement
I want to paint about the nature of beauty, we see it everywhere in the natural world around us. My work explores what is decorative yet also emotional. Why shouldn't we put a beautiful painting on our walls if it lifts our spirits? This lifting of spirit is something that has been present in art, music, writing and any creative endeavour for all of time. A painting can show great beauty or hope, desire, anger or emptiness whilst still being able to look decorative and attractive. Art is always subjective - we see what we need to see, and can always learn more about ourselves in the process of looking.
